Cost of Living Calculator

We had a request come in from our friends at Valley County Health System today that looked at cost of living comparisons between different communities.  Awhile back, I blogged about what I was saving by moving to Ord.  I’ve found a great resource that gives us a hard and fast number.

You can enter in what you earn here in Valley County to see the comparisons in cost of living between other areas.  According to the calculator, moving from Lincoln/Omaha to Ord has saved me a bucket of money (my bank account agrees).

Omaha is 16% more expensive than Ord township (Valley county).

Utilities are the biggest factor in the cost of living difference.

Utilities are 34% more expensive in Omaha.

A salary of $50,000 in Ord township (Valley county), Nebraska should increase to $58,085 in Omaha, Nebraska
