Farming Profits Abound

with one comment

Farming continues to be a profitable enterprise in the global recession – not just in America, but across the world.  The Economist has a great take on the near-immunity agriculture has experienced from the recession.  If you recall awhile back, we ran a story on the new Census of Agriculture.  One finding in the report found that the market value of production grew 96% in five years.

Recent history suggests that our local farm economy is quite strong and continues to push economic growth in our local economy regardless of the economic slowdown worldwide.  Whether or not this trend continues remains to be seen, but as the Economist surmises, “No matter how bad things get, people still need to eat”.
