NCIP workshop coming to Ord

leave a comment »

The Nebraska Community Improvement Program is hosting a community development workshop in Ord in March.  The workshop will be held at the Ord Area Chamber office from 6-8p March 17th.

NCIP “recognizes the leadership, community and economic development efforts of Nebraska’s communities and multi-communities”.  What I enjoy most about NCIP is the focus on celebrating community sparkplugs.  Sparkplugs are the folks in our communities that make a real difference and lead by action.  They are the ones at Rotary, fund raising for youth softball, shoveling their next-door neighbor out, the first to make a meal for a benefit.  They are the glue in our communities.  NCIP does a great job highlighting these amazing people across Nebraska.  Plus, I’m excited we’re hosting NCIP because the program introduced me to Ord as an intern in college.  Pretty crazy, eh?

If you have any questions about the workshop, please feel free to contact Christina Bartels at 402.471.3172 or by email at christina.bartels@nebraska.gov or contact Sara Watson at 402.471.4168 or by email at ded.ncip2@nebraska.gov.  Ord drop by our office and find out a bit more.

Finally, one of the most important parts to NCIP is the project networking guide that is released each year.  In it you will find successful community, economic and leadership development activities across the state AND the contact person for each effort.  Networking my friends – it works.

UPDATE:  The folks at NCIP have a registration form for the workshop in Ord here.  Ain’t technology grand?
